In the world of skincare and beauty, the quest for radiant, youthful skin is never-ending. One treatment that's gained incredible popularity for its unique approach and promising results is the Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) facial—sometimes referred to as the "vampire facial." Made famous by celebrities and backed by science, this rejuvenating treatment uses your body’s natural healing properties to give your skin a fresh, youthful glow. Let’s dive into what makes PRP facials so powerful.

What is a PRP Facial?

A PRP facial is a non-surgical cosmetic treatment that harnesses the healing power of your own blood to promote healthy, glowing skin. The process involves drawing a small amount of blood from your arm, which is then processed to separate the platelet-rich plasma from other components of the blood. This plasma, filled with growth factors, is then applied to the face, often combined with microneedling, to encourage collagen production, cell turnover, and healing.

How Does a PRP Facial Work?

PRP facials rely on the power of platelets—tiny blood cells that help the body heal. When concentrated and applied to the skin, these platelets release growth factors that stimulate skin repair, encourage the production of new collagen, and promote an even, radiant complexion. Here's a breakdown of the steps involved in a typical PRP facial:
  1. Blood Draw: A small sample of your blood is drawn, usually from your arm.
  2. Centrifuge Processing: The blood is placed in a centrifuge machine that spins it rapidly, separating the plasma and platelets from other blood components.
  3. PRP Application and Microneedling: The PRP is then applied to the face, sometimes on its own or combined with microneedling. The tiny needles create micro-channels in the skin, allowing the PRP to penetrate deeply, enhancing its effectiveness.
  4. Healing and Rejuvenation: Over the following days and weeks, the PRP works to boost cell turnover, heal damaged skin, and create a smoother, firmer complexion.

Benefits of PRP Facials

PRP facials are popular because they deliver a host of benefits with minimal downtime and natural results. Here are some of the key advantages:
  • Reduced Fine Lines and Wrinkles: PRP stimulates collagen production, which can smooth fine lines and reduce the appearance of wrinkles.
  • Improved Skin Texture and Tone: PRP promotes cell turnover, helping to even out skin tone and create a more youthful texture.
  • Acne Scar Reduction: The healing properties of PRP can improve the appearance of acne scars and other blemishes by encouraging skin regeneration.
  • Natural, Long-Lasting Results: Since PRP uses your own blood, the results are natural and typically last longer than some other treatments, often up to a year with proper skincare.
  • Minimized Pores and Improved Elasticity: Microneedling combined with PRP can lead to smaller pores and a more elastic, plump appearance.

What to Expect During and After a PRP Facial

The PRP facial is a minimally invasive treatment, but it’s normal to feel a bit of discomfort during the microneedling process. A topical numbing cream is typically applied to ensure a more comfortable experience. After the treatment, you may experience redness, mild swelling, and sensitivity similar to a mild sunburn. These side effects typically subside within a few days.
Most patients notice improvement in their skin within a week, with full results developing over 3-4 weeks as collagen production kicks in. You may need a series of treatments for optimal results, depending on your skin goals.

Who is a Good Candidate for a PRP Facial?

PRP facials are suitable for most skin types and ages, especially those looking to rejuvenate their skin in a natural way. It’s ideal for people who want a non-surgical option to improve skin tone, texture, and elasticity. However, those with certain blood disorders or specific skin conditions may need to consult with a professional to ensure the treatment is suitable.

Final Thoughts: Is a PRP Facial Right for You?

If you're searching for a way to revitalize your skin without synthetic ingredients or invasive procedures, a PRP facial could be a great option. While the process may sound intense, it’s actually quite safe and relies on your body's own healing power to bring you that radiant glow. Just remember to consult with a licensed practitioner to discuss your goals and ensure the procedure aligns with your skin type and health needs.
PRP facials offer a natural approach to rejuvenation that can leave your skin looking fresh, healthy, and vibrant. So, whether you're looking to reduce wrinkles, fade acne scars, or simply give your skin a boost, a PRP facial might be just what you need to look and feel your best.

Thanks to Doctor Raysa Perrone at Green Garden located in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic for all her help in this amazing process.

I recently tried a Russian manicure and let me tell you, it's a total game-changer. Instead of the usual cuticle trimming with those little clippers, they use an electric nail drill to clean and shape the cuticle area. I wasn’t sure what to expect at first, but the results are seriously flawless.

Here’s why I’m hooked: the e-file they use is super precise, so they’re not just hacking away at your cuticles. They gently buff them off, which means no painful cuts and it lasts longer than a regular manicure. Plus, the finish is so smooth and clean that it looks like you’ve got brand-new nails.

They usually top it off with gel polish, so you get that gorgeous shine and durability. Honestly, my nails have never looked this polished for so long. It does take a bit of skill though, so make sure you go to someone who really knows what they're doing.

If you're looking for a manicure that looks super sleek and lasts forever, definitely give the Russian manicure a shot! Not to mention the growth you will retain.

I'm always looking for new innovative hair products that optimize the health of my hair and I wanted to share my latest gems. For context, my hair is in no way damaged, but it's thick, prone to frizz and of wavy/curly texture. I get capillary surgeries every 3-4 months and wash it maybe once a week sometimes a week and a half. I get my hair trimmed every 2-3 months also. In between treatments, I take advantage to apply deep treatments, protein, and any hair growth serums so that way the processes I get done last longer if you do prior.

I stumbled across this line of hair products on Instagram and after seeing the rave on them I decided to give them a try so I can apply them during the break period I take to nourish my hair before I apply the anti-frizz process.

I have previously used Olaplex No.3 (you can read my review here) as a protein treatment and while it's an amazing product the bottle is way too small for all the hair I have that I could barely use it maybe 3 times. So after reading reviews many people compare Elizavecca as a good affordable alternative to this protein treatment and its essence oil. I wouldn't say is a dupe for Olaplex but to be honest they work maybe even better.

First off, the price is unbelievable for the quality of product you'r getting, they cost less than $10 dollars each. I purchased mine on Amazon and they came in a super cute and creative packaging which I appreciate.

I applied the Elizavecca Cer-100 Collagen Coating Protein Treatment after shampooing my hair and left it on my hair 10 minutes then applied my conditioner. I'm currently using Nexxus Therappe Humectress when I wash my hair at home. I then applied leave-in conditioner and got my hair blow-dried and flat-ironed because all the chemicals I use are wearing off, so the flat iron helps keep the hair under control for longer until the next wash.

After hair is washed, styled and all that, I applied a few drops to my hands of the Elizavecca Cer-100 Hair Essence Oil, while it says you apply this prior blow drying, I used a bit in those areas for extra moisture. I personally don't like to saturate the hair with oil, I simply use a bit cause that will help extend the hair washes. Next time I will use this prior blow-drying to test its efficacy as a leaving product. But so far so good, I really liked the glossy effect and smell.

My hair ended up soft, shiny and frizz-free which is what I always strive for! I recommend these 100%!

My hair used to be in terrible shape due to the lack of nutrients and some medications, but after putting in a bit more care and following a diet, I have managed to revive my hair.  I wanted to share with you my latest hair care routine and tips that may help some of you get the luscious hair you've always wanted.

While not all products are designed to give everyone the same results, I guarantee some of these will work wonders for most hair types.

For some context, my hair is very thick, prone to frizz and needs a lot of hydration due to the heat and humidity where I'm currently at.

  1. Biosilk Silk Therapy Shampoo and Conditioner: This is a great set and it smells amazing! I prefer a sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner since I get capillary surgeries by a professional. So it's recommended to use sulfate-free to prolong the effect.
  2. Olaplex No. 3 Hair Perfector: This is a hair mask I use when my hair is in really bad shape. If you color your hair or deal with chemicals this will restore your hair and strengthen it. I first doubted this product because I thought it was for women who dyed their hair blonde, but it works in all hair types.
  3. Salerm 21 B5 Silk Protein Leave-In Conditioner: After washing and conditioning my hair, I apply this leave-in to protect and lock in moisture, this step is a must to achieve salon results if you're doing at home. It helps protect the hair against heat and UV damage which is a must for me since I'm currently living in the Dominican Republic.
  4. Moroccan Oil Treatment: I apply this amazing oil after blow-drying/flat-ironing my hair to add a finishing touch. I put a little on my ends and sides of my hair because I don't like weighing the hair down with too many products. This product isn't greasy and absorbs quite well. You can also apply this prior to blow-drying on damp hair.
  5. Tricovit Forte Hair Lotion: If you're suffering from hair loss or hair thinning, this product is a miracle. I used this for about 2-3 months because I was experiencing some hair loss and I couldn't believe how fast my hair recovered after this. A hair stylist recommended it and I wanted to share this little kept secret with all of you. I hope it works like a it did for me.  I used it once a week after washing my hair and prior blow-dry. Apply on the scalp only.
  6. GNC Women's Ultra NourishHair Vitamins: If you're lacking essential vitamins due to dietary deficiencies, this has been the product that has helped speed-up hair growth and also nail growth for me. I used this for many years but since I no longer need it, I discontinued it. The only con about these is they are huge pills LOL but they do work. Be patient and take consistently for a a few month and you'll begin to see results.
  7. BabylissPro Flat Iron 1 Inch: While I don't recommend a lot of heat if you're trying to get your hair healthy, I do need to use it once in a while and also to do some styling. This one takes care of a lot of needs as it's a versatile tool recommended by pro hair stylists. You can curl and straighten your hair with this. It leaves your hair shiny and silky. Just make sure to use leave-in with heat protection or a heat protectant.
  8. Wet Brush Detangling Brush: This brush is fantastic to detangle wet or dry hair. I no longer struggle to detangle my hair whenever I do it myself. You need this in your life.

One important thing I must add is to get your hair trimmed every 3 months at least, to keep those ends in check. This step is crucial!

That's all girls! I hope these products can help you address some of your hair concerns.

For some time now, I had a lot of curiosity about this technique and what it claimed to do. I figured it was only for skin exfoliation but little did I know that dry brushing can be even beneficial to your health.

For the past months, I've been noticing a bit of dryness on the skin to the point I would use so much lotion, I thought maybe I wasn't using one that was very emollient. I started to read up about dry brushing and decided to purchase this one from Amazon since I had no luck finding the right one in town for this task.

I started to do this a few times a week prior shower for about 5 minutes each time. So what you want to do is go by sections in circular motion applying some pressure. At first I was concerned if it was going to be harsh but other than a minor redness, it dissipates right away.

What is Dry Brushing?

Dry brushing was practiced as part of the ancient medicine system Ayurveda in India. Known as Garshana, which translates from Sanskrit as “to rub,” this practice involves using a bristle brush or gloves over the entire body in order to help stimulate lymph flow, improve detox, exfoliate, and increase circulation.

What are the Benefits of Dry Brushing?

  1. Helps detox our skin from toxins
  2. Improve appearance of cellulite
  3. Reduce stress
  4. Stimulate lymphatic system
  5. Exfoliate skin
  6. Improve circulation

After a month of use I can see such an amazing difference, I compliment the brushing after bathing with a dry oil by Doctor Spa with olive oil and coconut which has improved the look and feel of my skin. It's softer, more radiant and I almost feel like the skin around my stomach looks more toned lately.

I also love doing this weekly because it sorta relaxes me, like more blood flow throughout the body. I can't rave enough about this.

Have you tried Dry Brushing? Leave a comment down below with your experience or favorite brush to use.

Ever since I was a teenager my skin has undergone certain skin treatments to keep mild acne in check as well as some residual scars from chickenpox. I must admit the whole scarring part made me quite self conscious because I used to have the most flawless skin but thankfully that was a phase I have already outgrown. Nevertheless, I enjoy taking care of my skin as I can still be prone to breakout specially now with this new rules of wearing facial masks in public due to COVID.

I have tried a wide array of skin care products and treatments but ever since I heard about the Hollywood Laser Peel I knew it was something I wanted to try, specially when I saw such great results on acne-prone skin.

As of right now, my skin has shown amazing improvement and all thanks to wearing sunblock, getting weekly exfoliation and using skin products that work as well as choosing the right make-up products. So, getting this laser was something I considered to improve skin texture, tone and keep my skin fresh.

This treatment is ideal also for people looking to:
  • Smooth fine lines
  • Correct hyperpigmentation
  • Reduce the look of pores
  • Add luminosity to the skin
The Hollywood Laser Peel is a kinder, gentler version of many other laser treatments. It’s safe for all skin types, can be performed any time of the year, and doesn’t have the long downtime some laser procedures require. Speak to your dermatologist or aesthetician for the amount of treatments you'll need to achieve optimal results.

I had mine done a few weeks ago, and right the same day I noticed an immediate radiance on the skin. The next day, I expected some redness or some sort of reaction to the skin as you could normally expect from getting laser but to my surprise this wasn't the case.

The texture of my skin has become smoother and I have not experienced any sort of breakout which is incredible. My makeup applies much smoother and it just looks airbrushed.

I'm very pleased with my first experience, my aesthetician recommended 2 more sessions as my skin isn't as problematic anymore to achieve even better results. Depending on your skin concerns the amount of treatments may vary so keep that in mind.

I will update with a Part 2 to this post to update you about my next two treatments but so far so good.
Investing on yourself is the best investment and this is without a doubt something you want to try. =)
